‘I’m going to become a writer…or a detective.’
This was the declaration I made, aged seven, eight or nine (those years blur into one!), after having read Enid Blyton’s Five On Treasure Island. Turned out I was a better daydreamer than writer. Still am. I started to put pen to paper around ten years ago, for an idea I’d had as a teenager. One novel idea turned into two. Then three. Then four.
It has been a challenge. Shedding hair. Insomnia. Screaming into pillow. Paper cuts. These are just a few of the consequences of my writing journey so far. But there have also been the nights I have dreamt a story from start to finish, or had a character telling me ‘you’re walking down the wrong path, choose the other’, or the days I find that piece of the puzzle that fits perfectly and I triumphantly punch my fist into the air.
Fantasy Fiction is my genre. These stories offer worlds one can escape into, worlds with endless possibilities. And this is what I hope to give my readers. Here I will share excerpts of my work and creative writing exercises which I have devised. I hope you find these useful and enjoyable.
Wherever you are in your writing journey, keep going and I wish you all the best.
